My 9-yr-old said, “If she can be so brave with bees, I can get my shot at the doctor’s tomorrow!” My friend Renée has become a beekeeper and it’s fascinating to me. What is most interesting is the parallel between the work of honeybees and the way Renée & her husband Brian Luwis conduct their lives as very hospitable and encouraging people. They have always been good at providing room and encouragement to every soul and the role they play in any given assembly. Just like with honey bees and the making of sweet honey, the work of each in the entire hive matters not just the queen bee. It is important that each does it’s part for the sake of the whole and the creative abundance hoped for. So, the fact the Luwis’s are now #beekeeping is an incredible image of what they have long represented in the body of believers and the work of ministry to me.
Quality time with treasures of old & treasures of new. Some Relationships, like with Wendy Cosby and Barb Walzer, were made back in the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s, and are still breathing life into me today. There is something so powerful in spending time with those who have been a witness to your life and you a witness to theirs, especially through the days of working in the fields of caring for orphans and foster youth @cca_institute and @showhope But to spend time decades later sharing stories together with your kids while walking the golf course was a special kind of blessing. @scotthasenbalg is lovingly and patiently teaching our children to play golf. “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” Matthew 13:51-58
